Hands on Design: Scott Township

We take great pride in collaborating with first responders to create the apparatus they’ve always envisioned, and the truck we upfitted for Scott Township is a perfect example of this. Our team worked hand-in-hand with Scott Township to fully equip and optimize their new fire truck.

When Scott Township approached us, they had already done extensive research and had a clear vision for their rig. Our designers partnered with them to incorporate two dual tool board swingouts, which held everything from Halligans to power tools, maximizing space and ensuring each tool had its own dedicated spot for easy access and storage. For their rescue tools, they requested our FMI SuZan™ system to securely store them on the officer side, alongside their air bags and air bag controller tote. We also installed heavy-duty vertical slides to accommodate tower lights and other long equipment. To finish it off, we added a custom-made radio box designed to endure the elements, specialized cone storage, and a Visqueen dispenser, resulting in an extraordinary custom truck.

What truly set this project apart was the level of collaboration with Scott Township. When they arrived at FMI for the final walkaround, there were a few adjustments they requested to better suit their needs. Our team was eager to fine-tune the truck so that it was perfect the moment it left our facility. While they waited, we invited them to join us for our company lunch that afternoon—a great opportunity to bond with a department as we wrapped up the project. By the time they had finished lunch, the truck was ready to roll into service.
